HISTORY

Spanning 1 hectare, Torrijos Poblacion School of Arts and Trades serves the educational needs of Torrijos, Sta. Cruz, Buenavista and other nearby municipalities.
TPSAT was established thru R.A. 8741 also known as “An Act Establishing the Torrijos Poblacion School of Arts and Trades in the Poblacion Municipality of Torrijos Province of Marinduque and Appropriating Funds Thereof,” signed on September 25, 1998 through the effort of Governor Carmencita O. Reyes with Congressman Edmundo O. Reyes Jr.’s  initiative for its appropriation.
Originally, the school was intended to be built in Poblacion, Torrijos as the name suggests but due to failure in negotiation in buying the original site owned by St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Diocese of Boac, it was brought instead to Poctoy, Torrijos, Marinduque through Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 32-01 authorizing  Mayor Tomas N. Pizarro to donate 5,000 square meters of lot owned by the Municipal Government of Torrijos which is a part of the parcel of land donated by the President of Marinduque Resources Corporation, Mr. Oben Gutierrez Co. originally for use of Poctoy National High School. In February 20, 2002, the deed of donation was signed by Mayor Tomas N. Pizarro and then TESDA Marinduque Provincial Director Pascual R. Ariola.
In June 17, 2002 the school started its maiden operation. The school has a total of 88 enrollees in the three (3) course offerings namely: Two-Year Certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Services (HRS), Two-Year Certificate in Refrigeration and Airconditioning Technology (RAC) and Two-Year Certificate in Civil Technology.
